[ | Report broken link ]Description: The simple tool to create and edit your MySQL databases without too many hassles. The philosophy is to cover those not-too-complicated databases that make up the large majority of databases on the web - and elsewhere. The feature set is limited for exactly this goal: if a feature is not used in most databases, then it should not take up space in the interface, nor should it be allowed to potentially confuse the user by its presence.
YourSQL is intended as the iApp of MySQL clients. Author: Magister Ludi Homepage: http://www.mludi.net/YourSQL/

How'd this get started?: Morten Larsen: "It was a combination of things: We see user interface development as one of our strengths, so experimenting with a real project in the Cocoa environment made sense as a small R&D project. We also needed a platform to experiment with automatic generation of SQL tables.
While Unix and Java are among our favourite development environments, the traditional GUI frameworks (X/11 and AWT/Swing) don't provide an acceptable user experience, in our view. Cocoa-Java seemed a really nice alternative, and we wanted to do something serious (and public) after a few internal database and web projects.
Whats' most impressive about YourSQL?
Morten: "The simple navigation, the rest is boilerplate."
What differentiates YourSQL from phpMyAdmin & MySQL Administrator?
Morten: "First and foremost, that YourSQL is a Cocoa app, and in the case of MySQL Administrator, that YourSQL actually runs on a Mac. phpmyadmin is an impressive and very useful project, but browser-based applications have their limits, especially in terms of GUI, user friendliness and integration with the OS. Cocoa gives quite good support for drag and drop, copy and paste, etc. and we try to implement at least the basics."
