Programming Language: Java

Chiba provides an implementation of the W3C XForms standard, thereby delivering generic, xml-based form-processing for the web.

How'd this get started?: The initial motivation was to build a project management tool with XML to share documents between a group of workers and avoid the chaos of proprietary file formats. After looking for a way to structure data-entry i found XForms to be a good match and moved my efforts to that. My next employer sponsored this work and integrated it in a commercial Content Management System to allow users to build forms dynamically. When experiencing the power of the XForms approach we decided to move on and try a implementation of the whole standard but focussed on server-side usage.
